Thing #2

Thing # 2:My thoughts on the 7.5 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners:

The easiest habit for me is to "accept responsibility for your own learning"

I always love to learn new things, ways, procedures, abilities, etc.. I find this easy , I guess, because I am curious about a lot of things. I always loved crafty things. It is a a challenge for me, although, to complete a quilt. I have taken quilting classes, I buy kits, I buy materials , I also take out books from the library, but there are times that I lack the skills (sewing & piecing) that are needed for this completion. I am aware that I need extra help on these skills & I will need to work on that. I also recognize that I am responsible for this learning challenge.

The hardest habit for me is "using technology to your advantage". I sometimes feel tech-deficient when it comes to using programs for learning. Of course I can use the computer, access a program, accomplish a basic skill on that program. But I need to work on that & that comes with practice, practice, practice. Also reading a book on the subject would also help, as well as reaching out to friends, colleagues to help me with this project. I have an Ipod shuffle. It was such a learning experience to know how to download from limewire, transfer to the ipod & listen to the music. & this I learned from my nephew. I can also tell you that I erased my songs 3 times (not on purpose). So this is a learning experience.

My thoughts on lifelong learning is that it will keep your brain forever young. There is so much out there in the world to learn , & I fear I will not have a chance to get to it all. So I try something new & hope it will make me a better person.
